Asian Idol Voting Mechanism is Somewhat Lame..
For voting, instead of choosing one,this time we have to choose two.. Unless your vote wont be accepted. This to prevents the nationalism of a country taking control of the show by deciding who’s the winner.. Those people behind Asian idol must be thinking “damn, I’m so genius to have such idea!”. Well i said.. YOU GUYS ARE LAMMME!!
If only 1 idols per sms mechanism is used,those guys are afraid that people only vote for his/her own country. With 2 idols per sms, they are expecting the other singers that people vote is the best or the 2nd best singers in the competition.. TEEETTT..!! Wrong!! We will not choose the best! we will choose the least expected winner!! And i think least expected winner in the show would be Phuong Vy and Hady Mirza.
For example… for Indonesian people, they will choose Mike Mohede for sure, the next one? Definitely not Mau or Jacklyn (both of them have a great voice..) nor Abhijeet (The fact that India is the most populated country can’t be neglected…). So they will vote for “Indonesia and Vietnam” or “Indonesia and Singapore”.
It’s the same case with people from other country… they will vote for “[add your country here] and Vietnam” or “[add your country here] and Singapore”.
By this state i can predict that neither Mike Mohede (Indonesia), Jacklin Victor (Malaysia), Mau (Philiphine), nor Abhijeet Sawant (India) will be the winner tomorrow.. So it will be up to Phuong Vy (Vietnam), or Hady Mirza (Singapore) .
Well, i hope I’m wrong..

hihi yah.. and i heard they had to normalize the votes with respect to the population of the country.. so that’s another advantage for SG

so it really depends on what is your country really are… And because the chance of Mike become the idol is one of the biggest, it quite obvious that people from other country won’t choose him.. and he drown to the bottom..
2nd question: Yeah, i was wrong about Phương Vy… It seems many people think highly of Vy’s beauty… (i don’t think she is THAT beautiful). So people that come from outside Vietnam think she is a big threat and wouldn’t choose her..

its weird how u’re an indonesian and particularly blabber about the voting system which are pretty lame. right. if u were smart enough, mike wouldn’t have been last. you could have at least did smtg. and i reckon that the population btw the countries who predicted to win (m’sia, philiipines and indonesia) are about the same. so what happened to ur theory ? it got backfired didn’t it ?
to dessie, there is no such thing. =) no one is being disadvantaged. the reason why they did the 2 country vote thing was because of this . and not that when people vote, they average the percentage of the country’s population. it does not work that way. if it was, why would they have initated the 2 country thing ?

sebagai wanita, Bang Hady itu memang pintar merebut hati wanita. terbukti saat saya menyaksikan langsung result shownya saia ikut jejeritan gak puguh (padahal termasuk di pihak yang kontra dengan Bang Hady itu..)
tapi Alhamdulillah, sekarang semua orang di kantor sudah ikhlas dengan kemenangan Bang Hady..

hmm,, i think is “something”… The thing is… not everyone realizes how this voting mechanism leads us to the worst… not everyone is being honest enough to vote the best after “their own country singer” in their sms… Everyone STILL vote “my country” and “i guess this singer will not be a threat for my idol”.. got that? What i can do by myself? I’m just a normal guy…
the population is quite far for 3 country… Indonesia 234,693,99. Malaysia 27,544,000. Philippines 86.973 million. Check wikipedia if u still not believe me. I don’t understand.. why this fact backfired me? They are not about the same… and i didn’t mention anything about how these 3 countries population will affect the results. Since i had no idea how people outside Indonesia will or will not vote for their Idols. Because in Indonesia, most of us don’t vote.. we just enjoy the show. Rp.2000 ($0.2) per sms is quite expensive for most of us.. You know what? I was considered quite lucky in Indonesia. I got things. Alhamdulillah. But still, my phone bill for a week is only $2! It’s no different with my others friends here, since we have Esia. Hail the holy ESIA!!

I agree with Gavin’s theory. I’m a living testimony of that said theory. Hehe….in fact, I kept voting for my own country + Spore as Spore is a small country…what r the chances larr…wrong allrite. Till the next day, it dawn on me then that it will make my vote a 50 50 chance which is a knockk-off in the end. *chuckle* anihow, its a competition of appeal than of voice thus, congrats to Hady.

wew.. overall i’m dissapointed that hady won the contest. to be fair,even though im indonesian, i will go for jaclyn victor.. she’s got the technique right.. while hady, i think its because of his looks.. for example, singapore will surely choose singapore, for those kiasu singaporean, will definately send thousands of sms..then, come malaysian and indonesian (the malays).. first they will vote for their own country follow by hady.. comebined all together it seems that hady has voting from 3 country’s population right?

Damn! I hate it when I’m right!!
FYI, my friends and I voted Hady because we like him. He may not have the best vocal range but he definately can sing, blessed with his looks, humbleness and mega- white smile, how can that be wrong? He had won the heart of TV viewers like us. His singing is soothing to our ears and he is eye-pleasing too. Deaftone or blind, you may call us, but hey music is so subjective. What is best to you, may not be for us and vice-versa.
Even if we followed the format of World Idol (Remember! you cannot vote for your own country), my friends and I will still vote for Hady. At the end of the day, no matter what the format of voting gonna be, Hady is still the winner coz he is fated and destined by divine intervention to hold that title.
